Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in width consisting of a six-armed medium blue cross bearing a silver castle with a green dome and black windows, all enclosed at top by a maroon scroll inscribed 'SELFLESS SERVICE" in silver.

Symbolism
Maroon and white (silver) are the colors traditionally used by the Medical Corps; medium blue and white are the colors of the coat of arms of Landstuhl, the unit's location. The castle is also adapted from the coat of arms of Landstuhl. The cross, a traditional symbol of medical care, has six arms creating a hub or central location, thus highlighting the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center's mission and objectives.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 20 Sep 1995.
